Greth Harmon Garnett, 92, of Plattsmouth died Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Alegent Midlands Community Hospital in Papillion.
He was born Dec. 10, 1915, in Avoca to Hal and Audrey Hazel (Harmon) Garnett.
On Dec. 4, 1954, he married Theadora T. Tarsikes in Omaha.
Greth was raised and schooled in Plattsmouth, graduating from Plattsmouth High School. During World War II he joined the U.S. Army. He served from Nov. 27, 1941, to Oct. 13, 1945, and was stationed in England. He then returned to Plattsmouth and worked at Offutt Air Force as a jet plane mechanic for the Civil Service until retirement.
Survivors include six grandchildren including local granddaughter Michelle and husband Richard Furmanski of Plattsmouth and local grandson Butch Ryan of Bellevue; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Theadora T. Garnett; and sister, Madge Garnett.
Funeral service: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Roby Funeral Home Chapel, Plattsmouth, with Pastor Michael McGregor officiating.
Pallbearers: Larry Burton, Alexander Davison, Jason Furmanski, Richard Furmanski, Brad Johnson and Butch Ryan.
Visitation: 1-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Roby Funeral Home with family present from 6-8 p.m.
Final resting place: Avoca Cemetery, Avoca.
Memorials may be directed to Nebraskans for Peace or N.O.W. (National Organization for Women).
