MILTON, PA - A Weeping Water man was killed about 5:30 p.m. Aug. 24 in Interstate 80 near Milton, Pa. James. S. Michelsen, 60, of Weeping Water was driving his truck tractor along the interstate when investigators say he failed to slow down for traffic stopping for a construction zone. He struck the rear end of a truck driven by Gary Perrine, 57, of Great Lakes, Minn. Perrine was not injured.
A medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene and spent nearly an hour trying to free Michelsen. A doctor pronounced Michelsen dead at the scene. Eastbound lanes on I-80 were closed for several hours as the wreckage was cleaned. He was the son of long time Weeping Water resident, Irene Michelsen.
Milton is in Northeastern Pennsylvania about 70 miles north of Harrisburg.
