PECC to hold child cognitive development workshop

PLATTSMOUTH - Plattsmouth Early Childhood Center is offering a free workshop to parents and childcare providers at Loving Hands Child Care Center, 324 N. 5th Street in Plattsmouth, on Tuesday, March 24.

The workshop, which will run from 6:30-8 p.m., will focus on understanding cognitive development of infants, toddlers and preschoolers. It will help parents learn about change and growth of children's mental capacities. It will also focus on age-appropriate expectations such as comprehension, paying attention and delayed gratification.

Peru State College psychology instructor Carrie Gottschalk will lead a question-and-answer session on working with children with challenging behaviors. Gottschalk works as a behavior consultant and strategist to provide training and coaching for parents and childcare providers across Nebraska. She began her career as a coach, family teacher and behavior interventionist at Boys Town.

Childcare will be provided at the workshop. Contact Plattsmouth Early Childhood Center at 296-5250 to register.
