Motor vehicle homicide set aside

03:20:50 pm, by Patti Jo Peterson

A district judge set aside a 1985 conviction of motor vehicle homicide for Floyd Neumeister. Neumeister and his wife recently purchased the bowling alley in Nebraska City but were unable to obtain a liquor license to to the prior conviction. Neumeister has not had any violations of any kind since the conviction and he has remained sober since the day after the 1985 accident.
Do you agree with the judge's decision? Should he be allowed to have the conviction set aside and own a place where alcohol will be sold?

Remembering Brendan

05:49:51 pm, by Patti Jo Peterson

A memorial has been established at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth for Brendan Gonzalez, a four-year-old who was killed by his father five years ago. Brendan's body was never found and, most likely, lies in the Sarpy County landfill, because his father dumped the body in a trash bin in Bellevue after killing him.
Does the memorial put closure on his death? What do you remember about this heinous crime?
